A busy week

We’ve had a busy week this week creating…. Christmas tree decorations for a craft fair next weekend.  It’s a year since playing with clay, but we soon got the hang of it again… it’s remembering what the glazes do  and the colours they turn out.  The results are fine.  It’s so exciting when you open up the kiln.. you never really know what you’ll find!

The colours are still wonderful and we’ve actually had some drier weather this last couple of weeks.   We have vacancies in the self catering and we will do short breaks at this time of the year even though I can’t get the book now button to do them.. Just e mail me!!!  We wold love to see you.

The Tea Garden will be going on to the self service and honesty box system shortly.. but I will still be baking so there sill be cake!

Happy November everyone!

Friendly sheep!

Somehow, the sheep always understand you and never disagree with you (apart from when they don’t want to do something!). This one is a particularly friendly Herdwick.

Tea Garden goodies!

Fresh from the oven today.. Date Slice, Victoria Sponge and  Apple and Cinnamon Scones made with apples that have about 100 yards of food miles on them and have been picked so recently that they were still covered in dew!  They are the ones that make the best scones, hence I only make them in the autumn! The sponge is filled with yesterdays plum, apple and damson jam.

It’s a lovely day for a walk so why not walk over the Rigg or amble along the lower paths in the valley and call in for tea?   We look forward to seeing you!

More Jam!

Plum, apple and damson this time.

Why not come for a walk, have a cuppa and support Eden Valley Hospice by buying some jam?

It’ll be baking day tomorrow.  I think I’ll be making Chocolate flapjack, Date Slice and Victoria Sponge.

Any other suggestions?

September availability

We’ve had a cancellation for the first week in September, and we are also available for the week of 23rd.  Autumn is a wonderful time up here.  The damsons are just ripening and shortly there will be an abundance of brambles.  The bracken will turn and there will be a cool crispness in the air.  Why not come for an autumn break?

Plum and Apple Jam

I’ve made the first batch of the season already.  The plums are rotting before they are ripening properly.. probably because of the rather damp weather we’ve been experiencing! However, not all is lost.  Eden Valley Hospice will benefit from any sales of this product. It’s been tested … and have been assured it’s ok!!!

Family Fun

Enjoying a family breakfast in the camping barn.  Weatherproof camping at it’s best.  Why not come and try it for yourselves?

We are having rather mixed weather at the moment (typical British summer sort of weather) but don’t be put off.  The waterfalls are amazing and when it’s really rather too damp to venture out the local museums are wonderful. You can see the biggest pencil in the world in Keswick!

The restoration continues

Huge thanks to all concerned who have enabled us to continue with the restoration of our precious landscape.  We have lovely walls and gates.  The fencing job continues as does the gravel removal…. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
